A solitary shooter opened fire Friday evening at Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, killing five individuals
and injuring eight others before he was arrested, the Broward County sheriff
said.
Esteban Santiago, 26, flew from Alaska to Florida with a
weapon in a checked sack, and in the wake of landing got the gun and started
shooting close to a baggage carousel in Terminal 2 at around 12:55 p.m.,
authorities said.
"He in the long run recovered a gun and started
aimlessly shooting," Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel told journalists
Friday night. "This fearful, egregious act brought about the passings of
five individuals."
Eight individuals were likewise injured by gunfire and more
than 30 others endured different wounds in the mayhem of the shooting and in

Government law requirement authorities told NBC News that
Santiago was experiencing treatment for emotional well-being issues, grumbling
that he was listening to voices.
In November, he strolled into the FBI's office in Anchorage,
asserting his brain was being controlled by a U.S. insight office and that the
CIA was making him watch ISIS recordings, the authorities said. Authorities say
neighborhood police were called, and he went willfully to a psychological
wellness office for treatment.
In that occurrence Santiago said he would not like to
mischief anybody, and the FBI shut its appraisal in the wake of directing
checks and talking relatives, the authorities said.
The airplane terminal was closed down and was not

A sibling of the suspect, Bryan Santiago, told NBC News that
Esteban experienced childhood in Puerto Rico, where he served in the National
Guard. He was conveyed to Iraq for 10 months, moved to the Army Reserves and
later moved to Alaska, where he served in the Alaska National Guard as a battle
build. He was released in August 2016 for unacceptable execution, the Alaska
National Guard said.

Santiago said, including the sweetheart had let him know that the couple had
been battling and that he'd gotten mental directing in Anchorage.
Bryan Santiago said he had not got notification from his
sibling for a few weeks, which he said was surprising. His family was stressed
over him. "He is a customary individual, otherworldly, a great individual,"
the sibling said.
Maria Luisa Ruiz, a close relative of Santiago's, said she
last observed him after he came back from Iraq in 2011. She said he was getting
help in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Explorer John Schicher told MSNBC he had quite recently
landed at the air terminal's baggage carousel with his better half and relative
when the shooter began terminating just feet far from him.
"He was holding a dark handgun and he was quite
recently shooting haphazardly into the group," Schicher, who said he was
"in stun," told MSNBC. "There were elderly individuals who were
shot and murdered, there were two individuals to one side and two individuals
to my correct that were shot."
The shooter said nothing and didn't give off an impression
of being focusing on anybody particularly, Schicher said, including that the
shooter had sufficient energy to reload his firearm before he was ceased by
police.
"He strolled over and he was appropriate in our general
vicinity, as inside only feet of us, shooting individuals. I didn't know
whether I would be shot or if my significant other or my relative would
possibly," he said.
Schicher said he called 911 after the shots were discharged,
while his significant other directed medical aid to a man that had been shot in
the head. His relative utilized her sweater to put weight on another man's shot
injury, however "he was gone as of now" by that point.
The shooter was wearing a blue "Star Wars"
T-shirt, as indicated by Schicher. He didn't get a decent look at the suspect.
"I put my head down and supplicated," he said.
"We remained down."
Santiago flew from Anchorage, Alaska, to Minneapolis and
after that to For Lauderdale, Piro said. Authorities said he doesn't seem to
have any associations with Fort Lauderdale.
President Barack Obama talked by telephone with Florida Gov.
Rick Scott and Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief to express his wished to

"We were advised to hit the deck and we remained there
until we were given the green light to leave," said Foster, addressing
MSNBC from an airplane terminal landing area. "Obviously, everyone's quite
shaken up."
Previous White House squeeze secretary Ari Fleischer tweeted
that he was at the airplane terminal at the season of the shooting and
"everybody is running." He later tweeted that "all appears to be
quiet."
The air terminal says more than 73,000 explorers go as the
day progressed. The office is found minutes from private pieces of elevated
structure townhouses, maturing angling marinas and eateries packed firmly
together along Hollywood shoreline
